Burnley is a large town in Lancashire located 28 miles north of Manchester. It once played a leading role in the industrial revolution supplying the machinery that powered textile mills across the north of England. But when the mills fell silent the local economy fell into decline. Today, however, the town is aiming to become a leading player in the Northern Powerhouse.
The first part of this development fell into place in 2015 with the reopening of the direct rail link to Manchester. This delivered an instant £12m boost to the local economy and attracted further investment with Vodafone Automotive UK, Karman Tooling and Panaz Fabrics all opening major facilities in the town.
Most office space is located in business parks located close to the M65 motorway. One of the most prominent of these is Vision Park which aims to create more than 500,000 sq ft of office and advanced manufacturing space. The park is also located next to the UCLan education campus which has agreed to collaborate on research and development in advanced manufacturing technologies.
