Finsbury is a district of Central London which lies immediately to the north of the City of London. The area is largely commercial and is separate from Finsbury Park which is a large recreational and residential area approximately 3 miles to the north. Like other inner-city areas, Finsbury has seen significant investment in recent years which have transformed the local economy.
The prime business area is located around Finsbury Square which is a large public square approximately 300m north of Liverpool Street Station. The area is populated by modern high-profile office blocks which provide spacious accommodation for companies of all sizes. Finsbury Circus is also nearby which is the largest public open space within the City’s boundaries. This area is popular with city workers at lunchtimes.
The area is served by two train stations. Liverpool Street, which sits on the West Anglia Main Line providing direct services to Cambridge and Norwich. And Moorgate tube station which sits on the Circle, Hammersmith & City, Metropolitan and Northern Lines. The two stations are currently separate but Crossrail developments will see the two stations connected to create a single terminus.
